The homeowner called 911 at about 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, and said that his house was on fire and that he could not control it, police said.
The Easton Police and Fire Department, along with numerous other fire departments from the area, responded to the fire at 25 Deerfield Drive, police said.
Easton Police Officer Don Kinahan, a nine-year veteran, entered the home to rescue a dog that was trapped inside the burning home, police said.

Kinahan was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Bridgeport for treatment of smoke inhalation and released, police said. The homeowner was also taken to St. Vincent Hospital with smoke inhalation, according to the Easton Courier.
Easton firefighters were joined by crews from Fairfield, Redding, West Redding, Trumbull and Westport to help battle the blaze.
The temperature at the time was in the single digits, with strong winds on a frigid night.
It took about two hours to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
